Town planing study "Zbrojovka"

Bc.Tomková Martina. Územní studie „Zbrojovka“. Brno, FAST 2012. The diploma thesis deals with the revitalization of the industrial area of the former Zbrojovka Brno Company. The area is close to the historical centre of Brno. The principal idea of the diploma thesis was to introduce new activities in the area while making use of the current area potential as well as to restore the economic balance and keep the genius loci of the area. The implementation of this idea has required building conversions in the area and the development of a new project the main idea of which is the university campus. The new project of the area benefits from the layout of buildings, especially the layout of large-capacity halls, the closeness of the city centre and the possibility of the railway connection. The whole conception is in compliance with the strategic development plan of Brno which comprises the issues of research, development, innovation and education. On campus there is an independent office building with integrated railway station, multimedia and sport centre as well as a municipal park. The area is open to and offers a wide range of services to general public. The diploma thesis includes the model of the area design.

Hybrid mobile robots able to operate in the university campus

This thesis describes actually known hybrid mobile robots platforms including analysis of different types of wheels, tracks and other instruments of locomotion. Sets potencial advantages and disadvantages for every found platform. Thesis shows all possible hindrances for mobile robots in the university campus, including hindrance parameters. Multicriterial valuation’s basic metod takes out optimal variant of platform.

The project is dealing with building of a new Faculty of Architecture at BUT. The target area is located on one of the BUT campuses between Údolní, Úvoz and Tvrdého streets. The concept of the new Faculty of Architecture is based on a relationship between teachers and students. The specificity of the architectural studio education is historically referring to beaux art academies. The atelier is a community space where students learn from their "master", but above all from each other. The project addresses the relationship between student´s and teacher´s spaces, which meet in the central "factory" hall, connecting the two worlds.

Teaching-space paradigm

The project is dealing with building of a new Faculty of Architecture at BUT. The target area is located on one of BUT campuses between Údolní, Úvoz and Tvrdého streets.The proposal envisages the placement of the entire FA program in the building of the former barracks from the 19th century on Úvoz Street and adjoining outbuildings. The "extension" is not only an extension, as an enlargement of an existing building, but it is an opportunity for its reconfiguration. This creates a hybrid, a game between the old and the new, which forms a new way of using the object. Programmatically, the entire proposal is divided according to three levels of accessibility: the public, students and teachers and employees. The spatial solution is then solved as the mutual interaction of the three groups of users.

STU Innovation Center in Bratislava

The aim of the bachelor's thesis was to create documentation for the building permit and part of the documentation for the construction. The work follows the architectural study, which was developed in the subject AG35 - Atelier of public buildings. The theme of the studio work was the Campus STU Competition by Inspireli. The main idea of the idea competition was to design a representative center of the Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava. The project includes the innovative STU science center, educational, social, multi-purpose and leisure spaces both indoors and outdoors and part of the rectory's workplaces. The Innovation Center serves students, pedagogues, researchers and employees of STU, as well as experts from practice, self-government and the public. The campus creates conditions for the interaction of the academic environment with practice and is an important communication space towards the public. This is helped by the opening of the complex and its connection with the main public spaces of the city. I designed a concept called "STUdents city", a city that has imaginary boundaries, while being open to the public, a city where students can find everything they need and can take it for them. During the new construction of the campus, I respond to the surrounding faculty buildings and the context of the place, and to make it open to the faculties materially and conceptually, and at the same time not to disturb them with its substance. I solved the problem of lack of light of the inner block by the potential of the sloping plot and by placing certain objects in the newly created terrain break, at the same time I ensured the supply of natural light and fresh air by means of atriums and skylights. When designing, I took into account the flexibility and variability of interior or exterior use.
